Frank Castle is playing hard ball, and anyone who stands in his way is gonna be knocked out of the park. Netflix has just released a teaser for “The Punisher” spinoff in the end credits of Marvel’s “The Defenders,” which premiered Friday on the streaming platform.
According to Mashable, the MCU followed their usual habit of including sneak peeks after the end-credits of their releases, even though Netflix minimizes the credits after their programs to try and interest you in starting another show. The teaser features a sledgehammer, a chilling voiceover, and the kind of retribution only The Punisher can deliver.
The tough antihero is played by Jon Bernthal (“Sicario”), who first appeared on “Daredevil” wrecking havoc in Hell’s Kitchen. According to the Nerdist, Matt Murdock spends most of “Daredevil’s” second season trying to get Frank to follow some sort of moral purview, which Frank never really finds in himself.
“The Punisher” also features Jason R. Moore (“The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (“Girls”), Michael Nathanson (“The Wolf of Wall Street”), Jaime Ray Newman (“Bates Motel”), Amber Rose Revah (“Indian Summers”), Paul Schulze (“Nurse Jackie”), Daniel Webber (“11.22.63”) and Deborah Ann Woll (“Daredevil”). It follows Frank’s rise (or in this case, slide) into bad-guy bashing after he tragically loses his family. The series is created and written by Steve Lightfoot (“Hannibal”), with characters created by Gerry Conway and John Romita Sr.
According to the Nerdist, “The Punisher” is set for release sometime later this year. Watch the teaser below.
