Misty Knight has got some new hardware in Season 2 of “Marvel’s Luke Cage.” In an exclusive with EW, Netflix has unveiled the first image of Simone Missick (“The Road to Sundance”) as Knight with her new bionic arm. The badass cop is seen striding alongside the bulletproof Luke Cage, who’s played by Mike Colter (“Zero Dark Thirty”). Take a look above.

Knight lost her arm in sister show “Marvel’s The Defenders,” where villain Bakuto (played by Ramón Rodriguez, “Need for Speed”) took her appendage. Luckily, Knight survived the encounter, and is seen recuperating at the hospital in the show’s season finale. Iron Fist, played by Finn Jones (“Game of Thrones”) and Colleen Wing, played by Jessica Henwick (“Game of Thrones”) are seen watching over the fallen hero. Looks like Knight is up and raring for a fight in the upcoming season of “Marvel’s Luke Cage,” which premieres next year.

The appearance of the bionic arm raises some further Marvel connections, if Netflix decides to follow canon. In the original “Luke Cage” comics, Knight is fitted with a bionic arm made by Tony Stark, aka Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man; however, Knight lost her arm in a bombing, not to Bakuto, according to EW.

Because the arm is a Stark invention, it has some insane abilities we’ve come to expect from the genius billionaire playboy philanthropist, including energy blasts, super strength, gravity fields and the ability to control robots. Obviously, Marvel does deviate from their canon (see Hawkeye in all of the recent films. I promise comic book Hawkeye is a lot more fun than movie Hawkeye), so the show could go in a different direction with the arm’s origins. But here’s hoping there’s a nod to Tony Stark or even an RDJ cameo in Season 2.

Netflix’s “Marvel’s Luke Cage” returns with a new season in 2018.

Do you think “Marvel’s Luke Cage” will bring Tony Stark into their universe? Will the bionic arm be made by another tech genius? Let us know in the comments below!
