Chis Pine (“Wonder Woman”) is set to play one of his most important roles to date, the late Democratic politician Bobby Kennedy. The “Star Trek” and “Wonder Woman” star is currently developing a limited TV series with Hulu about Kennedy, according to Deadline. Pine will star as RFK and executive produce alongside Todd E. Kessler (“The Good Wife”), James Lassiter of Overbrook Entertainment, Caleeb Pinkett and author Larry Tye. The series will be based upon Tye’s biography, “Bobby Kennedy: The Making of a Liberal Icon,” with Kessler adapting the book for TV.

“Bobby Kennedy: The Making of a Liberal Icon,” is an in-depth look at the younger Kennedy as a “bare-knuckle operative, cynical White House insider and romantic visionary.” The biography is a massive study on RFK and features hundreds of interviews of his closest friends and family, access to unpublished memoirs, unpublished government files and obscure Kennedy papers, hidden away for the last 40 years.

This is not the first time Hulu has focused on the Kennedys. Limited series “11.22.63,” a sci-fi drama centered on John F. Kennedy’s assassination, was released last year. The series starred James Franco (“127 Hours”) and was produced by J.J. Abrams (“Star Wars: Return of the Jedi”), Stephen King, Bridget Carpenter (“Friday Night Lights”) and Franco. The critically acclaimed series paved the way for the upcoming Bobby Kennedy biopic on the streaming platform.

Pine is currently riding a career high, playing Steve Trevor in “Wonder Woman” alongside Gal Gadot (“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”). The actor, who’s best known for his role as Captain James T. Kirk in the latest “Star Trek” reboot, is currently filming David Mackenzie’s “The Outlaw King,” according to Deadline. He’ll be seen next in Ava DuVernay’s “A Wrinkle in Time” alongside the likes of Oprah (“The Oprah Winfrey Show”), Reese Witherspoon (“Big Little Lies”) and Mindy Kaling (“The Mindy Project”).
