20th Century Fox released the official trailer for its upcoming animated film, “Ferdinand.”

The studio synopsis reads:

“‘Ferdinand’ tells the story of a giant bull with a big heart. After being mistaken for a dangerous beast, he is captured and torn from his home. Determined to return to his family, he rallies a misfit team on the ultimate adventure. Set in Spain, Ferdinand proves you can’t judge a bull by its cover.”

The screenplay is based on the 1936 book by Munro Leaf.

Pro-wrestler-turned-actor John Cena voices Ferdinand in his first animated film. He has also done voice work for several WWE-themed video games. In addition to his WWE appearances, Cena has appeared in several films including “Trainwreck” and “Daddy’s Home.” He will also star in the “Transformers” spin-off “Bumblebee.”

The star studded voice cast also includes Kate McKinnon (“Ghostbusters”), David Tennant (“Doctor Who”), Bobby Cannavale (“Mr. Robot”), Anthony Anderson (“Black-ish”), and many more. Superbowl MVP Peyton Manning recently joined the cast as another bull, Guapo.

Carlos Saldanha directs. The animation follows in similar style to his previous animated films including the “Ice Age” and “Rio” franchises.

Singer/actor Nick Jonas wrote a new original song, “Home.” The song will be release next month, well ahead of the film’s release.

The film will be in theaters on December 15.
