Netflix released the official trailer for its upcoming documentary, “Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond–Featuring A Very Special, Contractually Obligated Mention of Tony Clifton.”
The documentary tells the story of Jim Carrey‘s experience filming the 1999 movie “Man on the Moon.” That film earned the comedian a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical.
In “Man on the Moon,” Carrey played the legendary comedian Andy Kaufman. Kaufman starred on “Saturday Night Live” and Taxi in the late 70s and early 80s, prior to his untimely death from lung cancer at age 35.
“Man on the Moon” was directed by Academy Award-winning director Milos Forman. Forman won Best Director prizes for “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and “Amadeus.” He was also nominated for the 1996 film, “The People vs. Larry Flynt.”
“Jim & Andy” features over 100 hours of behind-the-scenes footage shot over the four months of filming “Man on the Moon.” The documentary was directed by Chris Smith. He has directed and produced several documentaries including “Collapse” about the 2008 mortgage collapse, and “The Yes Men,” about two activists impersonating members of the WTO.
