Focus Features released the official trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Phantom Thread.”

The official synopsis reads:

“Set in the glamour of 1950’s post-war London, renowned dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day-Lewis) and his sister Cyril (Lesley Manville) are at the center of British fashion, dressing royalty, movie stars, heiresses, socialites, debutants and dames with the distinct style of The House of Woodcock. Women come and go through Woodcock’s life, providing the confirmed bachelor with inspiration and companionship, until he comes across a young, strong-willed woman, Alma (Vicky Krieps), who soon becomes a fixture in his life as his muse and lover. Once controlled and planned, he finds his carefully tailored life disrupted by love.”

The film is a reunion between Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis and director Paul Thomas Anderson. Day-Lewis has claimed this is his final film, though it is unclear whether he actually means it.

Day-Lewis has won three Academy Awards. His first was for the film “My Left Foot.” He won again for 2007’s “There Will Be Blood,” which was the first collaboration between the actor and Anderson. He won again for Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln.”

Paul Thomas Anderson has been nominated for six Academy Awards for writing and directing films including “Boogie Nights,” “Magnolia,” and “There Will Be Blood.” In addition, he was also nominated for writing the adapted screenplay for “Inherent Vice.”

“Phantom Thread” will be in select theaters December 25.

Amazing trailer with what seems to be no 3rd act spoilers and early word is great plus Last Tango in Paris vibe! Vicky Krieps looks like she could be best in show and a dark horse for best supporting actress!!
