Final SAG Predictions – Will the SAG Ensemble Curse Be Broken?

The SAG Nominations are tomorrow, lighting up an epicenter of talk about which performers and films will land Oscar nominations on Jan. 23.  As always, we’re looking at what films the membership may not have seen in time, anticipating snubs as just “mishaps” on the awards circuit.

We know the voting body has not seen Ridley Scott’s “All the Money in the World” so we can scratch that off for an Ensemble mention along with stars Michelle Williams and Christopher Plummer, who both received Golden Globe nominations earlier this week.

Word was the Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Phantom Thread” didn’t send out screeners in time to enough members so names like Daniel Day-Lewis and/or Lesley Manville may not be read.  We know for a fact that the voting committee didn’t see Michael Gracey’s “The Greatest Showman” with Hugh Jackman or Rian Johnson’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”

Last year, the SAG Ensemble stat remained intact as “La La Land” failed to win Best Picture without a corresponding SAG nomination.  This year, honestly, any of the ten films could theoretically miss out on a nomination, and still be in the hunt for a Best Picture win.  Which film will it be?
