Another re-telling of the J. Paul Getty III kidnapping– with a different take than Ridley Scott’s “All The Money In The World” on what transpired– will soon hit the small screen. The official trailer for FX’s “Trust,” a drama series from the team who made the Oscar-winning flick “Slumdog Millionaire” dropped Wednesday, featuring the likes of Donald Sutherland (“Ice”), Hilary Swank (“The Homesman”) and a very spoiled lion.

“Trust” follows the Gettys, one of the wealthiest families in the United States with a notoriously miserly patriarch. The series will span the 20th century, starting with the kidnapping of J. Paul Getty III, the grandson of J. Paul Getty, and the event’s impact on the Getty family, according to Deadline. Harris Dickinson (“Beach Rats”) plays the free-spirited grandson, with Sutherland starring as John Paul Getty Sr. and Michael Esper (“The Drop”) and Swank playing J. Paul Getty, Jr. and his wife Gail. Brendan Fraser (“The Mummy” series), Anna Chancellor (“New Blood”), Norbert Leo Butz (“Bloodline”), Charlotte Riley (“Peaky Blinders”) and Luca Marinelli (“They Call Me Jeeg”) also co-star in the drama.

The series is the brainchild of Simon Beaufoy (“127 Hours”), Danny Boyle (“Steve Jobs”) and Christian Colson (“Selma”), who previously collaborated on “Slumdog Millionaire.” Beaufoy created “Trust” and executive produces with Boyle and Colson. Boyle has also directed the first three episodes of “Trust,” which is produced by FX Productions, Cloud Eight Films, Decibal Films and Snicket Films Limited.

The series is the second project on the infamous kidnapping set for release, following the film “All The Money In The World’s” take on the story. After watching the trailer, it’s clear that while the source material may be the same, the projects are very different from one another. While “All The Money In The World” is a more action-packed, high-stakes tale circling four main characters, “Trust” explores the family dynamics of the Gettys, their lifestyles and personal problems, including suggestions in the trailer that J. Paul Getty III thought about staging his own kidnapping before he was actually snatched by the Italian mafia.

“Trust” premieres March 25. Watch the official trailer below.
