In preparation for the fast-approaching “Black Panther” premiere, Marvel just released a new trailer shining a spotlight on the nation of Wakanda and its fiercest warriors: the Dora Milaje.

This all-female group of fierce warriors were originally introduced as a group of potential wives for Wakanda’s next king, sent from tribes throughout the nation to become the future queen or members of the Dora Milaje, who protect the crown. But according to Gizmodo, the Dora Milaje have evolved from royal bodyguards into their own Wakandan strike force, a special-ops team of impressive fighters ready to defend the nation at a moment’s notice. As Danai Gurira (“The Walking Dead”) notes in the trailer, “The Dora have a way that was supposed to be inspired by moving as one. [They] work together to take somebody, like the fight we have with Killmonger [Michael B. Jordan].”

Featuring behind the scenes interviews with Gurira, who plays the warrior general Okoye, and Lupita Nyongo’o (“12 Years a Slave”), who plays the young warrior Nakia, the upcoming film focuses on an internal conflict within the Dora Milaje, as Nakia’s new ideas clash with Okoye’s more traditional approach. But whether they belong to the old guard or new, one thing is certain: the Dora Milaje kick ass in ways Marvel fans have only dreamed of.

Starring Chadwick Boseman (“Captain America: Civil War”) as the Black Panther, the upcoming film follows the rise of the former Prince of Wakanda to the throne. But will Erik Killmonger, played by Michael B. Jordan (“Creed”), steal T’Challa’s rightful throne for himself? The Marvel film boasts a star-studded cast, featuring Daniel Kaluuya (“Get Out”), Angela Bassett (“911”), Forest Whitaker (“Lee Daniels’ The Butler”), Letitia Wright (“Black Mirror”), Winston Duke (“Person of Interest”), Sterling K. Brown (“This Is Us”), John Kani (“Captain America: Civil War”), Florence Kasumba (“Wonder Woman”), Sydelle Noel (“GLOW”), Andy Serkis (“Lord of the Rings” series) and Martin Freeman (“The Hobbit” series). The film has already made Marvel history weeks before its Feb. premiere, becoming the studio’s most pre-ordered film in the first 24 hours of presales. Judging by this new trailer, “Black Panther” will easily meet the expectations of excited MCU fans.

“Black Panther” premieres Feb. 16. Watch the new trailer below.
