The final season of “The Americans” is just weeks away. And today, FX released a short promo.
The announcement was accompanied by a clip from the 1980s TV series, “Fame,” as well as a still photo of that show’s star, Debbie Allen. In the clip, Allen’s character Ms. Simms lectures a dance class on the importance of working hard. She cautions her students against thinking this is going to be easy. It is an important clue about what is coming for our favorite spy family.
Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys star as Elizabeth and Philip Jennings, Russian spies living as everyday Americans at the height of the Cold War. Both have been nominated for Golden Globes and Emmys for their work. The series was also nominated for writing and Outstanding Drama Series. Margo Martindale won Emmys for Outstanding Guest Actress.
Holly Taylor and Keidrich Sellati star as the Jennings children, Paige and Henry. In recent seasons, Paige stumbled onto the truth about her parents and decided she wanted to join the family business. Season six will explore the implications of Paige’s journey into the world of espionage.
Noah Emmerich plays the FBI agent next door. Richard Thomas, Annet Mahendru, Alison Wright, Susan Misner, and Frank Langella also star.
“The Americans” was created and produced by Joseph Weinberg.
The sixth and final season begins on FX on March 28.
