Distributor Gunpowder & Sky released the official trailer for the upcoming film, “Hearts Beat Loud.”
The film tells the story of a father who faces both the closing of his vintage record store and the empty nest as he prepares to send his only daughter off to college. The two enjoy jam sessions together, and everything changes when he decides they should record a song.
Nick Offerman and Keirsey Clemons star as father and daughter, Frank and Sam.
Offerman is known for his dozens of television and film appearances. His credits include “Murder by Numbers,” “24,” “22 Jump Street,” and “The Founder.” He is probably best known as Ron Swanson, the subject of hundreds of internet memes, from the sitcom “Parks and Recreation.”
Clemons has appeared in TV shows including “Austin & Ally,” “Transparent,” and “Angie Tribeca.” She has several films in the works, including the still-untitled DC film about The Flash.
“Hearts Beat Loud” also stars Ted Danson, Toni Collette, Sasha Lane, and Blythe Danner.
The film was directed and co-written by Brett Haley. Haley’s feature film credits include “The New Year,” “I’ll See You in My Dreams,” and last year’s “The Hero.” Haley collaborated with co-writer Marc Basch on both of the latter two films, as well as this latest.
Songwriter and composer Keegan DeWitt wrote original music for Offerman and Clemons. He also wrote the original music for “The Hero,” and has composed for film and TV, including “The Long Dumb Road,” “Divorce,” and “Gemini.”
“Hearts Beat Loud” earned a lot of praise when it premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival. It also went on to SXSW in March where audiences fully embraced it.
Gunpowder & Sky will release the film in theaters on June 8.
