The new “Terminator” reboot is moving forward with new additions to its cast.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton previously confirmed their participation in the project.
While specific plot details are unknown, the film is expected to be a sequel to the 1991 hit “Terminator 2: Judgment Day.” Director and producer James Cameron has famously expressed concerns that the franchise veered away from his original vision. This reboot is an attempt to bring it back on track.
Cameron will serve as a producer on the untitled film, but Tim Miller is stepping in to direct. Miller made his feature directorial debut with the 2016 hit, “Deadpool.” He passed up on the chance to direct that sequel in order to jump into the Terminator franchise. He is also expected to direct the upcoming X-Men stand alone film “143” about mutant Kitty Pryde.
Gabriel Luna starred as Ghost Rider on “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” He also appeared in the second season of “True Detective,” and in the 2016 film “Transpecos” about Border Patrol agents who run into trouble at a remote checkpoint in the desert.
Diego Boneta made several television appearances before his feature film debut opposite Tom Cruise and Julianne Hough in “Rock of Ages” in 2012. He also starred on “Scream Queens,” and can currently be seen in the sci fi thriller “The Titan.”
Columbian actress Natalia Reyes also joins the cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reyes will star as Dani:
“…a young woman from a working class neighborhood in Mexico City who finds herself in the battle between humans and machines.”
Reyes got her start appearing in children’s programs in her native Columbia. She also stars in “Birds of Passage,” which is set to debut this year at the Cannes Film Festival.
The film is set to strike theaters on November 22, 2019.
