Animation is a genre of film thoroughly dominated by Pixar. As such, it’s easy to dismiss other efforts as being of a lesser quality. That’s not necessarily the case though, as there’s a multitude of cartoon offerings each year. This year, Warner Brothers has an interesting one on their hands in “Smallfoot,” which imagines Yeti running into the mythical human. With the right execution, that could be a really enjoyable flick. Well, those of you who are curious about this one are in luck, as WB is ramping up publicity early. A sign of confidence? That just might be the case here.
A new Trailer has dropped for the movie, which has a pretty impressive voice cast. Directed by Karey Kirkpatrick, the voices here include the likes of Channing Tatum, James Corden, Zendaya, Common, LeBron James, and Gina Rodriguez. The screenplay is co-written by live action filmmakers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (along with Kirkpatrick and Sergio Pablos), while Phil Lord and Chris Miller are among the producers, so there’s talent to spare here. One look at the Trailer suggests a fun time, as you’ll find out shortly.
This is how Warner Brothers describe the animated film:
An animated adventure for all ages, with original music and an all-star cast, “Smallfoot” turns the Bigfoot legend upside down when a bright young Yeti finds something he thought didn’t exist—a human.
News of this “smallfoot” throws the simple Yeti community into an uproar over what else might be out there in the big world beyond their snowy village, in an all new story about friendship, courage and the joy of discovery.
Depending on how the year progresses, perhaps this could be one of our Best Animated Feature contenders? Stay tuned to find out when it hits theaters on September 28th.
