Netflix has released the official trailer for season 4 of “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.”
The groundbreaking comedy series stars Ellie Kemper as Kimmy, one of the world’s most cheerfully optimistic people. The show follows Kimmy’s adventures after she was freed from an underground bunker where she was held for fifteen years by a cult leader who convinced her the outside world had been destroyed.
After Kimmy is rescued—along with three other “Mole Women”—she rebuilds her life in New York City. She finds an apartment, lands a job, and begins to discover all the things she missed over the last fifteen years.
The series stars Tituss Burgess in the Emmy-nominated role of Kimmy’s roommate, Titus Andromedon. Jane Krakowski stars as Jacqueline White, Kimmy’s employer-turned-sort-of-friend. Carol Kane is the crazy building superintendent, Lillian. John Hamm frequently pops up as Kimmy’s captor, Richard Wayne Gary Wayne. Of the main cast, only Carol Kane has not yet been nominated for an Emmy for her work on this series.
“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” has also hosted many guest stars including Tina Fey, Gil Birmingham, David Cross, Josh Charles, Daveed Diggs, Anna Camp, Jeff Goldblum, Martin Short, and Laura Dern. They recently announced a new slate of guests for the fourth and final season.
Tina Fey and Robert Carlock created the series for television. In addition to acting nominations, “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” has received Emmy nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series for all three seasons. It also earned nominations for Stunt Coordination, and Casting in multiple seasons. Last year, they scored a nomination for Original Music and Lyrics for the instantly iconic song “Hell No,” from the episode “Kimmy’s Roommate Lemonades!”
The fourth season is being split in half. The first six episodes will premiere on Netflix on May 30. The remaining seven will be released later in the year. Netflix has not revealed the exact date.
