Paul Dano has long been one of the most exciting young actors in the business. Still in his early 30’s, he’s been in the business for two decades. From a teenager starting out to currently being someone able to navigate seamlessly between Hollywood and the independent film world, Dano has a lot to offer. Now, the actor has become a multi hyphenate. He co-wrote and directed “Wildlife,” a searing drama that had its debut earlier this year at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. Acquired by IFC Films for a fall release, the movie recently played at the Cannes Film Festival. Now, it’s beginning to ramp up some marketing and audience awareness for the work.

A Trailer has dropped for the flick, one that helps set the tone for the theatrical experience to come. Dano directs and co-wrote with Zoe Kazan this adaptation of the Richard Ford novel. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan as a married couple coming apart in front of their son, played by Ed Oxenbould, the movie also co-stars Bill Camp. A film of heavy emotions and quiet power, it’s a dark horse for some Academy Award attention later on this year. Oscar player or not, IFC has it set for a still to be determined fall release. In all likelihood, “Wildlife” will continue on the festival circuit, amassing more critical acclaim along the way.

Here is the IMDb plot synopsis, which is sparse yet gets the point across:

A boy witnesses his parents’ marriage falling apart after his mother finds another man.

Having already seen “Wildlife,” yours truly can speak to this being one of the year’s best so far. When it hits theaters in the fall, audiences will be in for a real treat. It’s an emotional sit, but an experience well worth embarking on. Dano has truly got the goods.
