Bradley Cooper‘s “A Star is Born” has an official trailer.

The Academy Award nominated actor moves into the director’s chair for his debut, which is a remake of the classic story. This is the fourth iteration of the tale. The first came in 1937 with Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. In 1954, Judy Garland and James Mason remade it. And then in 1976, Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson tried their hand at it. All three previous versions have been nominated for and won Academy Awards.

This time around, Cooper also wrote the script, which focuses more on his character, Jackson Maine. He is a spiraling star who looks to mentor a younger talent. But as she begins to rise, he finds himself further separated from his former glory days.

Cooper earned three Academy Award nominations in a row for “Silver Linings Playbook,” “American Hustle” and “American Sniper.” He also earned a second nomination as a producer when “American Sniper” was nominated for Best Picture.

Stefani Germanotta, aka Lady Gaga, stars as Ally, the titular star. She starred in several seasons of “American Horror Story,” and has appeared in other films. But this is her first starring role in a feature. At this point, it’s unclear how her name will appear in the credits. In some marketing materials, she is listed as Lady Gaga. In other printings, she is billed by her given name, Stefani Germanotta.

Dave Chappelle, Sam Elliott, and Andrew Dice Clay also appear in “A Star is Born.”

Lady Gaga also wrote original music for the film. There is a rumor that some scenes incorporate footage from her recent concert tour.

Warner Bros is distributing the film worldwide. It is set for theaters on October 5.
