Aviron Pictures released a new trailer for the upcoming thriller, “Serenity.”

The company issued this synopsis:

Baker Dill is a fishing boat captain leading tours off a tranquil, tropical enclave called Plymouth Island. His quiet life is shattered, however, when his ex-wife Karen tracks him down with a desperate plea for help. She begs Dill to save her – and their young son – from her new, violent husband by taking him out to sea on a fishing excursion, only to throw him to the sharks and leave him for dead. Karen’s appearance thrusts Dill back into a life he’d tried to forget, and as he struggles between right and wrong, his world is plunged into a new reality that may not be all that it seems.

Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey stars as Dill. He won his Oscar for “Dallas Buyers Club” in 2012, but his filmography is lengthy. He appeared in films like “Dazed and Confused,” “Failure to Launch,” and “Interstellar.” In addition to this film, he will also star in “White Boy Rick” and “The Beach Bum” before the year is out.

Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway stars as his ex-wife, Karen. Hathaway won for her work in “Les Mis√©rables.” She also starred in “The Princess Diaries,” “Brokeback Mountain,” and “The Dark Knight Rises,” and is currently in theaters with “Ocean’s 8.”

Jason Clarke is Karen’s violent husband. In the past year, Clarke has starred in “Mudbound,” “Winchester,” and “Chappaquiddick.” He will appear later this year in “First Man,” and recently signed on for the new version of Stephen King’s “Pet Sematary,” which is due out in 2019.

Diane Lane (“Unfaithful”) and Djimon Hounsou (“Blood Diamond”) also star in “Serenity.”

Steven Knight wrote and directed the film. Knight earned an Academy Award nomination for his script, “Dirty Pretty Things” in 2002. He also wrote “Eastern Promises,” and his film, “The Girl in the Spider’s Web” will be out this fall.

“Serenity” is distributed by Aviron Pictures, and will be in theaters on October 19.
