New enemies are emerging in Harlem as Marvel’s “Luke Cage” moves into its second season.
Luke Cage is known for his bulletproof skin and superhuman strength. The new chapter of his story follows him after clearing his name and proving himself as a hero. The community adores him, which only means Luke has a stronger need to protect the people around him. But when he finds himself in the middle of two competing enemies, he has to decide if he should ally himself with one of them.
In this new trailer, we meet Mariah Dillard (Alfre Woodard), described as “one of the most complex, badass roles on television.” Dillard will face off with Bushmaster (Mustafa Shakir), a new enemy in town, and Luke ends up having to choose a side.
This was the third original series from Netflix and Marvel. The character of Luke Cage was introduced in the first season of “Jessica Jones,” and appeared again in “The Defenders,” when Luke teamed up with Jessica, Daredevil, and Iron Fist to save the city.
Mike Colter plays Luke. He has starred in shows like “The Good Wife,” “The Following,” and “Agent X.” He also appeared in “Men in Black 3,” “Zero Dark Thirty,” and “Million Dollar Baby.”
Alfre Woodard was nominated for an Academy Award for “Cross Creek” in 1983. She also recently appeared in “A Series of Unfortunate Events” and “Empire.”
Mustafa Shakir was in “The Night Of” and “Brawl in Cell Block 99.”
“Luke Cage” season 2 premieres globally on Netflix on June 22.
