The Toronto Film Festival continues to add more films to its slate. The latest announcement from TIFF is the Midnight Madness programme, which focuses on more horror and cult films. The series has been fun for years, including hits like “The Disaster Artist,” “Brawl in Cell Block 99” and “The Ritual.” It’s an exciting group to come out of the festival most years, and this year should be a banner year. This year, we get the return of not one, but two horror franchises of note. Shane Black’s “The Predator” is set to open the festival. David Gordon Green‘s “Halloween” will also screen in the programme. There are other interesting films coming to the festival so check out the full list below.

Assassination Nation” Dir. Sam Levinson, USA, International Premiere

Climax” Dir. Gaspar Noé, France, North American Premiere

*Midnight Madness Closing Night Film* “Diamantino” Dir. Gabriel Abrantes, Daniel Schmidt, Portugal/France/Brazil, North American Premiere

Halloween,” Dir. David Gordon Green, USA, World Premiere

In Fabric,” Dir. Peter Strickland, UK, World Premiere

The Man Who Feels No Pain,” Dir. Vasan Bala, India, World Premiere

Nekrotonic,” Dir. Kiah Roache-Turner, Australia, World Premiere

*Midnight Madness Opening Night Film* The Predator” Dir. Shane Black, USA, World Premiere

The Standoff at Sparrow Creek” Dir. Henry Dunham, USA, World Premiere

The Wind” Dir. Emma Tammi, USA, World Premiere

The TIFF slate looks really strong, which should only help some of the buzz coming out of the festival. Traditionally, horror franchises don’t usually attend these kinds of festivals. This could be a signal of something special from each soft reboot. Considering the hype around both this could be a really good sign. Once again, the TIFF Midnight Madness slate looks to deliver.
