Disney continually surprises audiences with extremely strong voice casts. Year after year, the animation giant pulls will slide popular actors and pop culture figures into their work. Looking back over some of their most recent animated films, you’ll find surprise castings. Edward James Olmos is forgotten in “Coco.” Jonathan Banks works for the government in “The Incredibles 2.” Nicole Scherzinger and Troy Polamalu both take small parts in “Moana.” Now, none other than Gal Gadot has been hiding in plain sight in “Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2,” Disney’s next animated feature.
Gadot broke the news herself via social media on Friday. Gadot showed excitement to play the role. Not surprising, especially because character feels similar to “Gizelle” from “The Fast and the Furious” franchise.
“Shank is amazing at driving cars and has this bad-girl vibe to her. But as the movie goes on you realize how fun, wise and warm she really is on the inside, which is what I like most about her” – Gal Gadot
Gadot has become one of the biggest stars in the world over the past year and a half. While she had a small following from the “Fast & Furious” films, her star blew up with “Wonder Woman.” Since then, Gadot has been an outward advocate for women to take a larger role on the big screen. She used her power to bring Patty Jenkins back to “Wonder Woman: 1984,” due out in 2019. Joining a Disney movie as a side character is a strong way to continue her rise. With her announcement coming away from the rest of the cast, there is likely to be a lot of focus on her character.
