One of the upcoming genre films that has some on the internet very excited is “Bad Times at the El Royale.” The film, which comes from Drew Goddard, looks to be a crime, shoot-em-up dark comedy. Goddard’s last directorial feature was the brilliant “Cabin in the Woods” in 2012. He earned an Oscar nomination in 2016 for writing the screenplay for “The Martian” from Ridley Scott. Featuring a myriad of solid actors, including Chris HemsworthJeff Bridges, and Jon Hamm, this could be an exciting genre entry this year. Today, we got character posters for some of those actors.

The posters don’t clue us into anything particular about the movie’s plot, which remains vague. However, it does clue us in on some of the players that are sure to make the film an exciting time. There was little doubt that Hemsworth, Hamm, and Bridges were going to be big in this feature. Dakota Johnson continues to build momentum as an actress, fresh off concluding the “Fifty Shades” franchise. Johnson will also star in Luca Guadagnino‘s “Suspiria” remake later this year.

The rest of the cast are stars on their way up. Cynthia Erivo is due to be a breakout star in 2018. With this and a potentially juicy role in “Widows,” she could become an actress to watch. “Bad Times at the El Royale” is Erivo’s feature film debut. Lewis Pullman took a lead role in “The Strangers: Prey at Night” and was one of the few highlights of that film. The son of Bill Pullman will also be in George Clooney’s Catch-22” in 2019. Finally, Cailee Spaeny debuted in “Pacific Rim: Uprising” early this year. She’s looking forward to Alex Garland‘s “Devs” in 2019. All told, the cast continues to look awesome, and with Goddard at the helm, expect some genre fun.
