The James Bond franchise remains one of the great series of films despite some recent drawbacks. Daniel Craig firmly established himself as a movie star in the past four films, with “Skyfall” and “Casino Royale” reaching critical high points for the series. A few months ago, it looked like Danny Boyle would be the latest acclaimed director to add his name to the series. However, things took a turn with those financing and approving creative for “Bond 25” and Boyle left the project. The scramble to find a new director made many wonder who would be a more exciting get than Boyle? Well, the team behind “Bond 25” hopes that Cary Joji Fukunaga will be up to the task.

The news of Fukunaga’s addition to the franchise came via the official James Bond twitter account. Fukunaga remains extremely busy, with his Netflix limited series “Manic” releasing this Friday. Fukunaga’s work on “True Detective” and “Beasts of No Nation” showcased his talent, but “Bond 25 could make him a household name. His strong visual style should help sell the film.

In the announcement, we get word that with some important date shifting as well. First, we get confirmation that Craig will continue to play the iconic character, a question left in the air after Boyle left the franchise. Then, the account announces a release date Feb. 14, 2020. There are sure to be many excited, yet simultaneously disappointed couples for the 2020 Valentine’s Day.
