Following a successful premiere at AFI Fest in Hollywood, Focus Features releases a second trailer for “On the Basis of Sex.”

The upcoming film tells the story of eventual Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s early career. The story begins with her years in law school, where she balanced demanding coursework with family life. Then it jumps forward to 1970, when the Ginsburgs took on the groundbreaking case of Moritz v. Commissioner of Internal Revenue. The precedents established in that case would eventually go on to end gender discrimination laws across the federal government.

Felicity Jones stars as Ruth Bader Ginsburg in a role that could land her a second Academy Award nomination. Her first came for her role as Jane Hawking in the Stephen Hawking biopic, “The Theory of Everything.”

Armie Hammer plays ultra supportive husband Marty Ginsburg, and Justin Theroux is ACLU lawyer Mel Wulf. Sam Waterston, Stephen Root, Cailee Spaeny, and Kathy Bates round out the main cast.

Mimi Leder directs the film from a debut script by Daniel Stiepleman. Leder recently completed work on the series “The Leftovers” for HBO. She also won two Primetime Emmys for her work on ER, as well as nominations for “China Beach” and “The West Wing” in the 90s. Her film credits include “The Peacemaker,” “Pay It Forward,” and “Deep Impact.”

The second official trailer, released today, features the original song, “Here Comes the Change,” from Grammy winner Kesha. The song plays during the film’s closing credits.

Focus Features is distributing the film. “On the Basis of Sex” will be in select theaters on December 25.
