New critics groups continue to pop up around the country. One of those new groups is the Music City Film Critics’ Assocation, based out of Nashville, Tennessee. In their first year, they chose to recognize a lot of films, and have a diverse slate of nominations. “A Star Is Born” led the way with 10 nominations. “The Favourite” also picked up 7. Meanwhile, films like “Mary Poppins Returns” broke into Best Picture, and Ryan Coogler was cited as one of the Best Directors of the year.
