Although no official title has been revealed for the upcoming “Game of Thrones” spin-off, the cast is coming together as HBO announced today a list of stars that will be joining the show’s pilot as series regulars.
Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough (“Colette”), Jamie Campbell Bower (“Sweeney Todd”), Sheila Atim (“Harlots”), Ivanno Jeremiah (“Black Mirror”), Georgie Henley (“The Chronicles of Narnia”), Alex Sharp (“To the Bone”), and Toby Regbo (“Reign”) will comprise the cast that already includes Oscar-nominated actress Naomi Watts Josh Whitehouse.
This new production based on George RR Martin’s highly successful book series is rumored to be called “The Long Night” and is believed to be a prequel set around the Golden Age of Heroes, a mythical period in Martin’s universe. No details have been revealed in regards to the nature of the roles each of the cast member will be playing, but HBO’s choices stand out for being impressively diverse
Director S.J. Clarkson has been tasked with helming this new iteration of the premium channel’s most profitable property, and will also serve as Executive Producer of the series. Clarkson is set to have a high-profile year as she was also recently hired to direct the new film in the “Star Trek” franchise. On the TV side, she has directed episodes of “Orange is the New Black,” “Jessica Jones,” and “Succession,” and “Dexter.”
Amon the cast, a standout is Naomi Ackie who will be seen in J.J Abrams’ “Star Wars: Episode IX,” to be released later this year and will surely bring her into mainstream awareness.
