We’re at Double Elimination Week for Academy Idol XII Round 5! Sadly, we have to drop another contender before we reach the voting. Before we jump into the double elimination week, let’s check who is going home from Academy Idol XII Round 4.

Round 4 Results

Round 4 brought similar results to the last couple of rounds. The films in top 3 are:

  • “A Star Is Born” (3 Tops)
  • “The Favorite” (4 Tops, 2 Wins)
  • “Hereditary” (3 Tops, 1 Win)

For both “A Star Is Born” and “Hereditary,” this is their 3rd time reaching the top 3. Meanwhile, “The Favourite” continues its dominance since Round 2. It takes home another big prize, earning it’s 3rd win in a row! Yorgos Lanthimos’ period piece/comedy remains one of the most talked about films in 2018.

The following films are also safe:

  • “A Quiet Place”
  • “Isle of Dogs”
  • “Roma”
  • “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”
  • “Widows”

This leaves us with our bottom 3. They are:

  • “BlacKkKlansman” (2)
  • “Eighth Grade” (3)
  • “If Beale Street Could Talk”

This is the first time “If Beale Street Could Talk” hit the bottom 3. For both “Eighth Grade” and “BlacKkKlansman” have showed up in the bottom before. Each of the three films received at least a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, and considerable praise on the Awards trail. This week our eliminated film is “Eighth Grade.” Sadly, Bo Burnham  and Elsie Fisher are going home, but the Ensemble Round would always be a tough beat for this one.
