‘Incredibles 2’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Top Visual Effects Society Awards Nominations

1

Nominations for the 17th Annual Visual Effects Society Awards have been announced today, and unsurprisingly Disney’s Pixar and Marvel received the most mentions for their 2018 blockbusters.

“Avengers: Infinity War” is the most nomination feature this year with nods in six categories, while on the animation side “Incredibles 2” garnered five mentions. Other films with multiple nominations include “Christopher Robin,” “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and “Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch.” One glaring omission, however, was “Mary Poppins Returns,” which was completely shut out of the awards.

This year, the VES Visionary Award will be presented to writer-director-producer Jonathan Nolan, brother and close collaborator to Christopher Nolan. Comedian Patton Oswalt will host the award ceremony once again.
