Academy Idol XII Round 7: Number One Votes Only!

2

Welcome back to Academy Idol XII! This week we’re eliminating another film and forcing you have to pick which of our finalists would be your number one vote. Whenever we get to our Top 7 films of Academy Idol, big films start heading home. This year is no different, and we’re heading into the home stretch. There’s a lot to get to, so in we go.

Academy Idol XII – Round 6 Results

First up, let’s look at our Top 3 films from Round 6. Round 6 was judged on the early televised precursors, including the Golden Globes and BFCA awards. Our vote leaders coming out of Round 6 were:

  • A Star Is Born” (Fifth Top 3)
  • The Favourite” (Sixth Top 3, 4 Wins)
  • Roma(Third Top 3)

Unsurprisingly, “The Favourite” takes the top prize once more. The film has been on an absolute tear through Academy Idol this year, winning every round except for the Top 30 round. With its Fifth win of the season, “The Favourite” looks like a behemoth. However, this was the closest voting so far, with “The Favourite” receiving 18.86% of the total vote, while both “A Star Is Born”  and “Roma” received at least 17.55% of the vote. With fewer choices, support looks to be strengthening for these films. Two other films make it through without reaching the bottom 3. They are:

  • “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”
  • “Widows”

This leaves us with a bottom three again. Our films up for elimination are:

  • A Quiet Place(Second Bottom 3)
  • Hereditary” (First Bottom 3, Four Top 3s, 1 win)
  • Isle of Dogs” (Second Bottom 3)

The precursor circuit was not particularly good for any of the films. “Hereditary” struggled the most, but did take home a prize from the Gotham Awards for Toni Collette. Meanwhile, “A Quiet Place” earned a prize for Best Sci-Fi/Horror film. That leaves us with “Isle of Dogs,” which received a bunch of nominations, but could not take home any prizes. That may have been “Isle of Dogs” downfall, and it will be heading home from Academy Idol.

Academy Idol XII – Round 7 Voting Opens
