Welcome back to the Streaming Circuit, a look at what’s going to be available each week to watch in the comfort of your own home. For those of you hoping to find some quality viewing options without leaving the house, this is the column for you!
Mark Duplass co-writes and stars in this drama, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival back in January. Now, it hits the streaming giant, potentially giving this Duplass Brother his widest audience yet. In it, a friendship builds between two men (Ray Romano and Duplass) when the younger one receives a cancer diagnosis. What could be otherwise moribund and a shameless tearjerker is instead funny and poignant, in addition to the obvious sadness that comes with this sort of cinematic territory. Karen saw it back at Sundance and had this warm review to file:
In a time where toxic masculinity is a frequent – and necessary – topic, along comes “Paddleton,” a film that celebrates non-toxic male friendship.
Duplass fans should be excited for this one. It’s now streaming on Netflix, so give it a look. This is the sort of thing that the streaming service can really give a larger profile to!
