Director Todd Phillips has revealed the poster for his upcoming film “Joker.”
The Joaquin Phoenix-starring film will center on the notorious DC Comics villain in a new telling unlike others and narratively detached from the line of previous films. Phillips’ film will most likely lean on the intricacies of this lonely character study. Joaquin Phoenix has been nominated for an Academy Award in the past for “Gladiator,” “The Master” and “Walk the Line.” He is set to indulge and surpass expectations comic fans may have for an actor of his caliber, although they are always skeptical of these adaptations. The earlier details and behind-the-scenes images helped churn out fan anticipations. It will be interesting to chew on this subtle and nuanced rendition of such a displaced character of the comics.
As detailed in an article by ComingSoon.net,
Phillips (The Hangover trilogy) directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with writer Scott Silver (The Fighter), based on characters from DC. The film is being produced by Phillips and Bradley Cooper under their Joint Effort banner, and Emma Tillinger Koskoff. It is executive produced by Richard Baratta, Joseph Garner, and Bruce Berman.
The film cast includes Zazie Beetz ” Atlanta” “Deadpool 2,” Bill Camp, Frances Conroy “American Horror Story,” Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler “Barry,” Douglas Hodge “Penny Dreadful,” Marc Maron, Josh Pais, Robert de Niro and Shea Whigham.
BRON Studios and Joint Effort are producing along with DC Entertainment and Village Roadshow Pictures. Lawrence Sher, whose work can be seen in the upcoming “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” is the director of photography. Production designer Mark Friedberg are also on board, as well as editor Jeff Groth and Oscar-winning costume designer Mark Bridges.
“Joker” is slated to release in theaters October 4. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures. Check out the poster below and keep a lookout for the trailer tomorrow!
