Netflix released a new trailer for the Zac Efron-starring Ted Bundy drama “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile.”
The meticulously directed Joe Berlinger film premiered at Sundance earlier this year to full capacity theaters. No one wanted to miss out on seeing the “High School Musical” star flex his acting chops in this meaty role. That, and, our society seems to have this undying fascination on the study of depraved minds. Either way, Berlinger studies and utilizes Efron and co-star Liily Collins as seen in the latest clip for the Bundy biopic. Whereas the first trailer depicted his character to appear “cool,” the new clip lands more into the deranged psyche.
It didn’t take long for Netflix to acquire the project. Berlinger’s very own docuseries “Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes” is streaming on the platform. This follow up film looks to put sharp emphasis on the notions of killer psychology and wicked tendencies of the human nature as told in the eyes of his longtime girlfriend Liz. The film chronicles the mental suffering of Liz as she grapples with the fact that Ted isn’t who he presents himself to be. Efron showcases his immense potential as the charming and conniving man, but how will streamers and audiences react to this turn of role?
His past projects include “Dirty Grandpa,” the Hugh Jackman co-leading “The Greatest Showman,” “The Lucky One” and the Good Universe-produced comedy “Neighbors.” Lily Collins’ previous projects include “Okja,” “Stuck in Love” and Netflix’s drama “To the Bone.”
The cast also features Kaya Scodelario, Haley Joel Osment, Golden Globe winner Jim Parsons, and Oscar nominee John Malkovich. It is written by Michael Werwie and will hit the Netflix streaming platform and select U.S. theaters May 3.
“Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile” is produced by Voltage Pictures, COTA Films, and Ninjas Runnin’ Wild Production.
