ACCA_MoviesFor many Oscar fans, the most frustrating thing about the ceremony is when they fail to recognize something or someone truly great.  “How could they have snubbed that film?!?” is a reaction all too common to awards watchers.  Unfortunately, we can never truly undo the mistakes AMPAS makes, but we at The Awards Circuit believe in giving our readers the opportunity to at least rewrite history in our own little corner of the internet.  Forget Hollywood politics or media brainwashing; the only voices at the Awards Circuit Community Awards that count are your own.  So be unique, be passionate, and make sure you vote, because at ACCA, you are the Academy!

MY 2016 *OSCAR FORECAST/PREDIX FOR THE 89th ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS-(majors only for now & marks my 35th year at oddsmaking/hanidcicapping *Oscar) But again, please at least reply thus time???
(*-Indicates early frontrunner to Walk Down-the-Aisle_) (PLEASE SACVE & COMPARE BUDDY,. I’VE BEEN AT MY FAVORITE ANNUAL GAME SINCE 1982-(I ranked about `10 new releases 4 stars that year too)
)Buit, I did lousy that debut yr thinking the better film “E.T/. would defeat *”Gandhi”) Took my until about ’86 & the year of *”Platoon” to finally get a handle on what Hollywood/APAS would likely do) My highnote yrs on winners 2014 hitting (20 for 24 correct) & 2002 when I won Variety’s annual *”Oscar-0racle Contest”-(it was free that year)
But, in reality only about (3) of my all=time fav. films have won BP *Gold
    BEST PICTURE?:
    “FENCES”
    “HACKSAW RIDGE”
    “HELL OR HIGH WATER”
*”LA LA LAND”-(will obviously lead the field w/12 or more noms.)-(seeing it today, finally)
    :MANCHESTER BY THE SEA”:
    “MOONLIGHT”
    “SILENCE” & “SULLY”
    & IF THERE ARE `10?:
    “LION” & “LOVING”
    ACTOR?:
*CASEY ALLECK in “Manchester by the Sea”*
    JOEL EDGERTON, “Loving”
    ANDREW GARFIELD, “Hacksaw Ridge”
    RYAN GOSLING, “La La Land”
    & DENZEL WASHINGTOIN, “Fences”
    ACTRESS?:
    ISABELLE HUPPERT in “Elle”
    RUTH NEGGA, “Loving”
    *NATALIE PORTMAN, “Jackie”
*EMMA STONE in “La La Lamd”*
& MERYL STREEP, “Florence Foster Jenkins”-(as you know if again the raced it will already mark her #20th record nom.)-(P.S. & like I’ve always thought it will appeal to older voters)
    S. ACTOR?:
    *MAHERSHELA ALI, “Moonlight”*
JEFF BRIDGES, “Hell or High Water”-(his 7th nom. td & if he’d nort won so recently it would be his)
LUCAS HEDGES, “Manchester by the Sea”
    OSSEI OGANATA, “Silence”
    & DEV PATEL, “:Lion”
    S. ACTRESS?:
    *VIOLA DAVIS in “Fences”*-(A BLOW-OUT!)
    NAOMIE HARRIS, “Moonlight”
    NICOILE KIDMAN in “Lion”
    OCTAVIA SPENCER, “Hidden Figures”
& MICHELLE WILLIAMS, “Manchester by the Sea”
    AND for now BEST DIRECTOR?:
*DAMIEN CHAZELLE for “La La Land”*
    BERRY JENKINS, “Moonlighhty”
RICHARD LONERGAN, “Manchester by the Sea”
DAVID MacKENZIE, “Hell or High Water”
    & MARTIN SCORSESE for “Silence”-(his 9th)
(NOTE: *Mel Gibson’s achievement w/”H. Ridge” should easily be in this race, but you know tinsel-town
plus, the dirtecting branch is smallest of all?)

  • Spencer Shannon

To CLAYTON, I KEEP ASKING THE SAME QUESTION, PLEASE LET US FELLOW PUNDITS KNOW. ARE YOU ALSO-(like most of the other *Oscar oriented sites) GOING TO CONDUCT SOMEKIND OF A PREDICT THE NOMINEES CONTEST???
I KEEP SUGGESTING YOUR NICE SITE TO MOST BUT THIS WOULD BE AN EXCELLENT ADDITION -(NOTE: my below nominee predictions are dated & are in need of (REVISION) For the most pt i’m sticking with them, but a few are different now & my final for 2016.

  • Spencer Shannon

DID YOU SEE WHERE THEY ALSO NOW-(unfortunately) HAVE ALTERED HOW THEY WILL ANNOUNCE THE NOMINATIONS ON TV? If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It”
(NOTE: we don’t even know if you read/see these posts though??? & last year your site had an extra section on here. It was about classic cinema & past *AMPAS contenders. & I wrote/posted a rather lengthy piece about the tremendous 1955 classic “:BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK” Is there any such items on here this year? (PLEASE REPLY) ([email protected]) THANX

  • Spencer Shannon

To Clayton, still waiting to hear back from you personally on a couple things? As it stands now, it looks like *Scorsese’s epic “Silence” may now only snag a few technical nods. I entered approx. (3) predict the nominees contests & again, had hoped you’d also offer the same.
PLUS, AS I WROTE BEFORE THERE IS NO SUCH CONCEPT AS LAST YEAR ON GETTING A SHOT TO WRITE ABOUT A CLASSIC PAST GREAT CONTENDER, AS I DID FOR “BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK?”-(is there some kind of link for it?)
& I’D ALSO LIKE A LITTLE COMPETITION VS. YOURS
& BELOW ARE MY FINAL *PREDIX FOR THE NOMINEES FOR THE 89th ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS-(top 3 majors only)
BEST PICTURE-(I hear there will be 9 this time)?:
    “THE ARRIVAL”
    “FENCES”
    “HACKSAW RIDGE”
    “HELL OR HIGH WATER”
    “HIDDEN FIGURES”
    *”LA LA LAND”-(12 or more)
    “MANCHESTER BY THE SEA”
    “MOONLIGHT”
    “SULLY”
    & IF THERE ARE TEN?:
    “LION”
    ACTOR?:
*CASEY AFFLECK, “Manchester by the Sea”
    ANDREW GARFIELD, “Hacksaw Ridge”
    RYAN GOSLING, “La La Land”
    VIGGO MORTENSEN, “Captain Fantastic”
    & DENZEL WASHINGTON, “Fences”
    ACTRESS?:
    AMY ADAMS, “The Arrival”
    *ISABELLE HUPPERT, “Elle”
    NATALIE PORTMAN, “Jackie”
    *EMMA STONE, “La La Land”
& MERYL STREEP, “F;lorence Foster Jenkins”

    THANK YOU
