Suicide Squad should still make a nomination, the makeup on Killer Croc alone deserves it

      • Stein-Erik Rutledal

It’s Sweden’s Best Foreign Picture submission.

  • Tobey

think it will be star trek beyond, florence foster jenkins and deadpool with suicide squad close behind. Surprised fantastic beasts, silence and jackie weren’t included in the shortlist

  • 1. Deadpool
    2. Suicide Squad
    3. A Man Called Ove

    4. Florence Foster Jenkins
    5. The Dressmaker
    6. Star Trek Beyond
    7. Hail, Caesar!

  • Johnson

    1. Star Trek Beyond
    2. Suicide Squad

The rest. Or so I believe.

    • Athena Politou

Good job, you were dead on!

  • Braxton Newby

    1. Deadpool
    2. Star Trek Beyond
    3. A Man Called Ove

  • Bryce

    Deadpool
    Star Trek Beyond
    Suicide Squad

It goes to Star Trek, but, it seems like I am wrong every time with this category because the film thar deserves the win always gets snubbed, so, as a backup, I am going with Deadpool.

  • Adventurer

Star Trek’s the clear winner here.

    • I wish I could agree with you. I must have missed something as most of the special makeup effects on the aliens in Star Trek (aside from the white girl) looked downright ugly and not very convincing. You could tell that it was a bunch of actors underneath a bunch of prosthetics. This is honestly not a good lineup of finalists this year, but the only one with truly convincing looking makeup was Deadpool.

      • Adventurer

I disagree really. Deadpool was full of faux looking gore. It was far from being convincing to me atleast.

        • Aem

Not sure gore qualifies as makeup and hairstyling when it’s CGI

          • Adventurer

The gore utilised make-up, which was then enchanced by CG.

  • Nikko Cartel Clar

    Deadpool
    Star Trek
    A Man Called Ove

  • Pokermask

Here are my predictions for Best Makeup and Hairstyling at the moment:
    Deadpool
    Florence Foster Jenkins
    Star Trek Beyond

    Top choice: Florence Foster Jenkins

  • Mangesh Gaikwad

    # Makeup and Hair ::
    Deadpool
    A Man Called Ove
    Star Trek Beyond

  • Zach Kronsberg

Star Trek: Beyond didn’t get bad reviews…

  • AyeAye

    Nominees are
    1. Star Trek Beyond
    2. A Man Called Ove
    3. Suicide Squad

The last one was the biggest surprise of the revelation along with Adams’ snub. I in no way thought a farce like that had any chance of getting a nomination here. Either way, this one is now Star Trek’s to lose.

Also I don’t what review you read, but Star Trek Beyond got acclaim from critics.

  • Calvin Damon

This is a really disappointing set of nominees after last year’s one-two punch of Mad Max: Fury Road and The Revenant. I feel sorry for The Revenant because it could’ve ran away with this category in most years, especially a year as lame as this. You’re right that there is no passion for any of these nominees, and thus any of these movies could really win, which makes it frustrating to predict. Hopefully the Makeup and Hairstylists Guild can clear this up a little

  • Michael Eduard Gschwandtner

Why did they nominate the same team as last year? I think this has a meaning, so I bet my money on “A Man Called Ove”!

    • life is a state of mind

Yes, A Man Called Ove’s make-up team is the same one from last year’s 100-Year-Old Man…and this make-up is better! I think Star Trek will win because I bet a lot of voters haven’t seen Ove. They would rather watch a popcorn-muncher than a foreign language film.

  • Pablo

This damn category… So hard to predict. And how the hell did Suicide Squad get in here?

  • Jared

I hope suicide squad wins just to see how pissed off everyone gets (I din’t like the film that much)
