2014 Golden Globes Predictions

2014 Golden Globes Predictions

It’s never too early to take a look at all the major precursors that will shape the events of the season. If we’re looking at the Oscar Predictions, why not take a look at the biggest party in Hollywood in January, the Golden Globes Awards. Star-lovers that do often make questionable choices based on power than actual quality (I’m looking at you Renee Zellweger, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason).

Take a look at the predictions listed below:

GOLDEN GLOBE FINAL PREDICTIONS

Updated: December 21, 2013

BEST MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA

gravity_picture_prod1. “Gravity” – (Warner Bros.)

2. “12 Years a Slave” – (Fox Searchlight Pictures)

3. “Captain Phillips” – (Sony Pictures)

4. “Philomena” – (The Weinstein Company)

5. “Rush” – (Universal Pictures)

COMMENTARY:
McQueen’s slavery epic has reaped the benefits from nearly all the critics awards so far.  With a very humble and strategically placed campaign since Toronto, the Fox Searchlight Pictures film can sweep all the major categories.  However, the HFPA is never afraid to reward the populist choice.  The foreign journalists rewarded James Cameron and his film Avatar in 2009 over The Hurt Locker which had been predestined to win virtually every award.  By the end of the evening, I think we’ll see Alfonso Cuaron’s space thriller come out on top with a solid showing.

wow! We can all certainly have our opinions and difference of opinion is certainly what makes the world go round but man! Those sure are some very wild predictions and I hope and pray that most of those do not come true. How can you not put “Silver Linings Playbook” in there for best screenplay? Thank you for sharing your opinion though.

Why do you have movies that haven’t come out yet until March/May 2013?

2012 is Barbra Streisand’s 50th year in show business. Not only is the name of one of her contemporaries, the lovely and talented Meryl Streep, spelled correctly, so is every single other person’s name on this list.

It’s not “Barbara”. It’s “Barbra”. I’ve known that spelling since I was about 12 years old, when I barely even knew who she was. Let’s do our homework here Mr. Davis, and at least spell people’s names correctly; especially those of legendary entertainers.

Guys, Christoph Waltz has the most dialogue + screen-time in the movie as per the final draft of the screenplay. He shares nearly every scene with Jamie Foxx, who himself is more of a presence than a character. Waltz should be there!

    That apart, great predictions!

I think Sigourney Weaver should be put in for best actress in a miniseries tv movie for Political Animals.

  • Antonio

First I want to say your predictions are very good from my point of view. I have to say, people really forget who vote at the globes, It’s The FOREIGN Press Association, not the academy and It’s the reason why the Oscars and the Globes always (often) disagree.

There is just one thing which for I feel a bit pessimist about, it’s the fact that your best foreign movie list has 3 movies from France and 4 of them are in French speaking language. That’s a lot and that’s why I think “The Intouchables” won’t make the cut.

For those who excluded Emmanuelle Riva & Marion Cotillard from their list you can stop right there. It’s impossible for the globes to ignore the two best foreign performances of the year. I’m honestly sure the globe is gonna go to Cotillard.

  • Eric

The predictions as of September are pretty dead on, except one thing…. IF YOU THINK “LINCOLN” IS ONLY GONNA GET 1 ACTING NOMINATION…. you’re soarly mistaken…. A Spielberg Film + An all star cast (especially an all star cast thats full of people who have been to the Oscars; winning and nominated) it’s bound to blow away the nominations … Although, Spielberg has never directed anyone who’ve made it to the Podium… But that is a Stat, that is bound to be proven wrong…. The Trailer(s) alone, should produce several nominations…lol

  • MiMi

Ezra Miller for supporting role in “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.” He’s great. I will see it again. The same with “Argo.” I hope Ben Affleck wins all the best picture and best director awards. It’s a magical masterpiece.

Jennifer Lawrence for The Hunger Games?

    God, I hope not.

I was hoping the globes would somehow recognize The Perks of Being a Wallflower, but it looks like its under the radar by now.

    • Jenny

Critics loved Jennifer Lawrence in Hunger Games so I wouldn’t be surprised.

  • Caddie

Wouldn’t it be fun if the Globes Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical looked something like this:
Julie Delpy: Two Days in New York
    Greta Gerwig: Damsels in Distress
Rashida Jones: Celeste and Jesse Forever
    Zoe Kazan: Ruby Sparks
Plus one of the usual suspects?

Of the above list there are 3 women actor/screenwriters who have written decent roles for themselves.
