Last Sunday was the biggest day of the year for the Awards Circuit, drawing in the largest number of readers to date who all came to celebrate the one…the only…OSCAR DAY! We kicked the Oscar celebration off with our LIVE OSCAR BLOG, where readers and staff came together to celebrate movie’s most magical evening. Once again, we thank you for your continued participation, and are ever so grateful that so many of you shared your Oscar viewing experience with us at the Awards Circuit! I’d like to give a special shout-out to one particular reader, John C., who shared with everyone on the LIVE BLOG all of his Oscar recipes for the big night! Many readers found your recipes to be Oscar-appropriate, and most importantly, scrumdiddlyumptuous!
In case you missed the announcement during the LIVE Blog last night, Steve McQueen’s emotionally resonate film, “Shame” won the fifth season of the Awards Circuit’s Academy Idol.
The film starring Michael Fassbender and Academy Award Nominee Carey Mulligan beat presumed early frontrunner, “Drive.” Both films had never been in the Bottom Three or Two during the voting weeks. Nicolas Winding Refn’s “Drive” is also the second runner-up in history, joining Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight,” to never be in the bottom three and lose the title. This is also the first time that the ACCA winner (“The Artist”) did not make the finale. “Shame” also has the smallest box office of any previous Idol winner.
Thanks to all our readership for a productive and amazing season of Academy Idol. Make sure to join us in November when we do it all over again. Read more on Academy Idol Winner is…Shame…

The team for John Hillcoat’s “Lawless” released a bunch of posters, some rugged and brilliant, others are wimpy and uninspired. My favorite is the sexy Jessica Chastain sporting a big, bad handgun. Check them all out after the jump. Read more on Beautiful Character Posters for ‘Lawless’… No related content found.share […]
