gatsby_bannerAs the summer blockbuster season gets ready to get underway, studios and their marketing teams are hard at work making sure their films are getting the proper push.  On the awards front, Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming 3D adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s masterpiece The Great Gatsby with Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, and Tobey Maguire.  While the film has its vocal doubters out there, there’s no denying the film will likely not be a visual splendor.

Following up from the semi-successful Kick-Ass (2010), Aaron Johnson, Chloe-Grace Moretz, and Jim Carrey are focal points on their posters for upcoming Kick-Ass 2.  Christopher Mintz-Plasse also has his new villain name for all to see that contains profanity.  (Disclaimer for our younger readers)

It’s that time of year when studios begin shuffling dates around to figure out which films will fit best where, to both maximize the return on their investment and/or to provide a film with the best shot of succeeding during the awards season. The strategy on the former has been a May through July release, as of late, where the latter has been shifting earlier and earlier away from December. Jim Carrey officially joins the cast of ‘Kick-Ass 2′

The sequel gets an A-lister to add to its cast...

    September 4, 2012

Despite my adoration for ‘Kick-Ass’, I must say that I’m more dreading the sequel than anything else. I sure hope that ‘Kick-Ass 2′ turns out to be good, but losing Matthew Vaughn’s direction is a big deal in my book. At the very least though, there’s an effort being made to keep the cast top notch, as Collider is reporting here that a supporting role will be played by none other than Jim Carrey. This is definitely not his normal sort of movie, and perhaps that will benefit both him and the film. After the jump you can find out who he’s playing, but I sure hope this flick works, or at least doesn’t sully my fond memories of its predecessor. Read on below for more…

‘Kick-Ass 2′ looks to bring back almost the entire original cast!

The sequel will have some very familiar faces to fans of the original...

    June 2, 2012

With the news that Matthew Vaughn won’t be returning to direct the sequel to ‘Kick-Ass’, the main reason to still be interested in this project is the cast. Chloe Moretz’s performance was an absolute delight and scene stealer, and Deadline is reporting here that not only will she be reprising her role in ‘Kick-Ass 2′, but that Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and even Nicolas Cage (somehow) will be back. After the jump I’ll speculate about how they fit in to the flick, but this is certainly good news to me. Without at least a few of them, I’d have lost hope in this sequel very quickly…
