Screen Shot 2013-03-02 at 11.00.08 AMSXSW is right around the corner so I’ve decided to give you all a Tuesday Top 10 treat from Terence (oh the alliteration!). Unlike Sundance, this film festival contains way more known properties and “bigger” indie films, but more than makes up for it with interesting programming choices. You can see my full schedule at this link but here’s a list of the top 10 films I’m anticipating the most! Read more on Top 10 Most Anticipated Films of SXSW…

What truly makes a top 10 film of all time? This was a question my colleagues and I asked ourselves when composing our lists. Many will point to a film’s technical merits, where it stands with critics, or how the film makes them feel. The mark of anyone’s top/best/favorite 10 films should reflect their viewpoint as they stand as a film goer and their critical reasoning. I, for one, can’t distinguish the difference between “best” and “favorite” when it comes to creating a list like this. Implying that one film is better than another is a subjective process that takes in the technical aspects of film criticism as well as your affinity for the material. Just because a film is labeled “classic” or “best” does that mean they should be included on every list? Isn’t eschewing personal feelings for a movie an affront to your own critical thinking process? From this viewpoint, of which I share, there’s no such a thing as a wrong list or a definitive one for that matter.

So without further ado, here are my Top 10 Films of All Time.

10 Films To Be Excited for This Summer

What are you dying to see this summer?

The arrival of The Avengers signals the start of the Summer blockbuster season. The Summer is the greediest season for film when you consider that it delivers the most expensive films made, typically generates the most money at the box office (six of the ten highest grossing films from 2011 came out in this stretch), and for some reason is commonly considered four months long (May-August) – as opposed to the regular three month season length. And while we might not see too many awards-worthy movies in that stretch, we will certainly have our fill of entertainment.

When looking at the movies coming out in the next few months, one thing is certain: this is going to be one hell of a Summer at the movies! From super-hero driven films like the aforementioned Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man, and The Dark Knight Rises (the epic conclusion to the Nolan/Caped Crusader film trilogy), to sci/fi features that include Total Recall and Prometheus, to uproarious comedies like The Dictator, Hysteria, and To Rome with Love, the summer seems poised to deliver on all fronts.

Here is a list of the ten films I am most excited for: Read more on 10 Films To Be Excited for This Summer…
