19th Annual Black Reel Awards Announces Nominations – ‘Black Panther’ Breaks Records

“Black Panther” continues to draw support from various groups across the industry. Hot off its nomination for the SAG Ensemble award yesterday, the Black Reel Awards weighed in with their nominations. “Black Panther” leads the group with 17 nominations, including Best Picture, Director, and many acting nominations. Not far behind is “BlacKkKlansman,” which scored eleven nominations as well. The Spike Lee drama about a black officer infiltrating the Ku Klux Klan has begun to build real Oscar momentum.
