‘Django Unchained’ and ‘Ted’ Score Seven Nominations for the MTV Movie Awards!

2013-mtv-movie-awards-logo-640x480And you thought the awards season was over?  The MTV Movie Awards have announced their nominations and FINALLY existing (somewhat) in a post-Twilight world, the same group that made edgy choices back in the 90s like awarding Menace II Society (1993) and Se7en (1995) their top award can start looking at some of the cool, ecletic group of pictures and give them their proper citations.

Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained (2012) and Seth MacFarlane’s Ted (2012) both led the nominations with seven each including Best Movie.  The Weinsteins have tapped into the twenty-somethings as well because Silver Linings Playbook (2012) was next in line with six nominations including mentions for Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence.

Never really paying enough attention to independent cinema, MTV looked for some “outside the box” choices like Quvenzhane Wallis, Eddie Redmayne, and Ezra Miller this time around as they landed nominations for Breakthrough Performance.  Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward will compete in the Best Kiss category for their smooch in Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom (2012).  They’ll match up against the likes of Emma Watson and Logan Lerman who are nominated for Stephen Chbosky’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) which managed four nods in total.

The film nomination listing is down below.  You can vote for the winners at MTV.com:
