Cheap jokes aside, Amanda Seyfried looks quite sensational in the trailer for Lovelace, but I can’t help think this film would have been better as an HBO movie, similar to Behind the Candelabra. It might have played better in that format, no?
Seyfried plays porn legend Linda Lovelace from her start as a naive young girl through her controversial rise to stardom, as well as the role she played as an activist against the porn industry as a result of her tumultuous career. Lovelace also stars Peter Sarsgaard as Lovelace’s husband, Adam Brody as her Deep Throat co-star, Sharon Stone as her mother, and James Franco as Hugh Hefner. The rest of the cast includes Hank Azaria, Bobby Cannavale, Chloe Sevigny, Juno Temple, Chris Noth, and Robert Patrick. Lovelace goes into limited release on August 9, before opening wide (no pun intended) shortly after.
