Well this isn’t good news. According to the LA Times, Sony’s The Monuments Men, directed and starring (and everything else) George Clooney, is getting pushed to 2014 due to complications with completing the film’s visual effects in time. And to make matters seem even worse, they are reporting a first-quarter 2014 release, which almost certainly takes it out of the awards race for next year as well. It appears to be, after all, what many thought ever since that first trailer – The Monuments Men just isn’t an awards flick, which, as he stated before, it was never Clooney’s intention for it to be in the first place. Here’s hoping it’s still at least entertaining.
So, like Foxcatcher and Grace of Monaco before it, The Monuments Men bows out of this year’s awards race. Proceed with updating your Oscar predictions accordingly.
