On this eighth week of Dancing with the Stars we gladly accept Snookie’s exit and welcome Cher to the ballroom. Tonight the stars will dance to Cher’s greatest hits and will then be challenged to a dance off competition. However, the highest individual score won’t compete in the dance off and will automatically be safe from elimination. So who gets eliminated this week? Let’s review.
Amber Riley & Derek Hough- Glee star Amber Riley danced a very sensuous Rumba. I thought the movements and footwork throughout the dance was incredible. The dance gave me chills and I really enjoyed the performance value. Cher thought it was fabulous and that she owned the dance, Bruno loved that she lead the Rumba but Carrie Ann felt she could have pushed herself more. Riley scored 28/30 points. With the highest score of the night she doesn’t have to perform in the dance off challenge.
Corbin Bleu & Karina Smirnoff- The High School Musical star tackled the Argentine Tango. Week after week, Bleu moves so effortlessly and has incredible strength. But I’m so impressed with his ability to continuously lead the routines and take control. Carrie Ann thought it was passionate and complimented how in sync both dancers were, Bruno says his performances have great depth and Cher thought the dance was amazing. Bleu scored 27/30 points.
Jack Osborne & Cheryl Burke- Reality star Jack Osborne danced the Tango. Osborne is the one star that has improved the most throughout the competition. He is by far the biggest surprise because I’m sure nobody expected him to be this good of a dancer. But he performed a perfect Tango that deserved a perfect score. Carrie Ann thought he was smooth and in control, Cher said he was a Tango dancing pimp and Bruno thought it was proper and classic tango. Osborne scored 27/30 points.
Brant Daugherty & Petra Murgatroyd- Hunky TV actor Brant Daugherty took on the Foxtrot this week. Let me tell you, I love it when this guy dances, it drives me insane. He gives each performance so much dedication and is always so charming. I was impressed with how he managed to stay in sync out of hold, but his dance was great. Cher thought their smiles worked wonderfully together, Carrie Ann thinks he has the most potential, but needs to work on his knees and Bruno always thinks his content is flawless. Daugherty scored 27/30 points.
Elizabeth Berkley Lauren & Val Chmerkovskiy- TV star Elizabeth Berkley Lauren danced a very intense Jazz routine. I have to say, out of everybody in the competition, she has the most confidence when she performs, but tonight’s performance seemed a bit off. She had so much energy and intensity within the performance that it seemed off the music at times. Cher loved how rough the dance was, Bruno felt her intensity through her off and Carrie Ann agreed with Bruno. Lauren scored 25/30 points.
Leah Remini & Tony Dovalani- TV star Leah Remini danced the Viennese Waltz Monday night. I have enjoyed watching Remini’s growth in confidence during the weeks of the competition. She went from being an unsure dancer to being able to dance on her own with such grace. Her Viennese Waltz was performed with charm and grace that it almost takes your breath away. Bruno found her performance lovely, but needed more body content, Carrie Ann thought she was behind the music at times but Cher was enthralled at how she interpreted the music. Remini scored 25/30 points.
Bill Engvall & Emma Slater- The comedian everybody loves danced Disco this week. Bill Engvall was stiff at times but he made his Disco dance so much fun to watch. You can tell he enjoyed himself and that enjoyment makes everybody fall in love with him. He’s such a great personality and that is why he has continued to stay in the competition. Bruno felt he had disco inferno, Carrie Ann feels he has a magical effect that makes the show better and Cher was simply impressed with all the lifts he was able to do. Engvall scored 24/30 points.
Corbin VS Elizabeth- Corbin wins 3 extra points.
Brant VS Leah- Leah wins 3 extra points.
Jack VS Bill- Jack wins 3 extra points.
Before the elimination was announced, Bill Engvall read off the teleprompter that he is yet again safe to dance another week. From week one, nobody expected him to make it this far and I think it’s fantastic that he has. But that means a high scoring couple is on their way out. The bottom two this week are Jack and Brant.
The next star eliminated off Dancing with the Stars is..
I’m upset that my hot man has been eliminated, but it’s something I’m just going to have to accept.
