POWERHOUR_LOGO_NEW1Welcome to another edition of the Awards Circuit Power Hour, our weekly podcast diving deep into all things film, television, and entertainment.

  • Another week and more revelations on how we know absolutely nothing about how the season can play out.  The first thing that we dive into is the shortlist for Makeup and Hairstyling and the surprise omissions that if offered.
  • We touch upon the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nominations.  With Oprah Winfrey missing out on a nomination, does it really hurt her chances in the long run?  Is Bradley Cooper or James Gandolfini positioned for a spot in Best Supporting Actor?  What other surprises are lurking around the corner for Best Actor and Best Actress?
  • We get into the Best Director race and with DGA announcing two days before Oscar ballots are due, will we get anything obscure like last year and have one of the frontrunners miss?
  • Mark Johnson finally lays down the gauntlet on his beloved franchise, and offers his thoughts on the latest installment, “The Desolation of Smaug.”

We have a recap of the Fantasy Awards Draft as they stand (as of Sunday night):
