I don’t think anyone can blame Jennifer Lawrence and David O. Russell for wanting to collaborate again and again with each other. They’ve done some of their most honored work together, after all. Russell got Lawrence her first Oscar in Silver Linings Playbook and they’re both looking for wins this time around with American Hustle. Well, Russell apparently is keen to make another movie with Lawrence and could be signing her up for a biopic about Joy Magnano, the inventor of the Miracle Mop. This sounds more like the Russell of old, so this could be a fun little film in the making. No word yet on if Bradley Cooper is going to join in as well, but would you bet against it? Me either. You can see the article below, but it’s still early for this one, so we’ll see what happens. That being said, I think it’s safe to say that this director/actress pair aren’t done making movies together yet, regardless of if this flick comes to fruition or not. I’ve loved what they’ve done so far, so count me in.
Here’s the story from The Hollywood Reporter:
David O. Russell is looking to reteam with his American Hustle co-star Jennifer Lawrence and may have found the vehicle.
Russell is in discussions to rewrite and direct an untitled biopic of Joy Mangano, set up at Fox 2000, THR has confirmed.
Sources say that Russell wants Lawrence to play the part of the inventor to the Miracle Mop but seeing as Russell is only beginning his dealmaking, the Lawrence factor is considerably a ways off.
Best known as the inventor the Miracle Mop, the film would tell the story of Mangano’s transformation from a single mother in Long Island to a QVC star.
Mangano is a fixture on the Home Shopping Network with her many inventions, probably none more famous that the mop. She began her inventing as a teen and kept on dreaming and tinkering while a single mom raising three kids.
The project is seen as an female empowerment tale and has a script by Annie Mumolo, the scribe behind Bridesmaids. John Davis and John Fox are producing via Fox-based Davis Entertainment. Ken Mok is also producing.
Russell is coming off of his award-winning commercial hit American Hustle, which has 10 Oscar nominations. The filmmaker has shown an affinity to work with the many of the same actors and before Hustle worked with Lawrence in Silver Linings Playbook. Lawrence won her first Oscar for the latter, in the best supporting category.
