Six Spot #9: Best Actress 2012

Oscar Question

Welcome back to The Six Spot! In case you missed last week’s 2013 Best Actor Six Spot, you can catch it here.

***DISCLAIMER — please refrain from spoiling the Six Spot is the comment section!  Feel free to point out gaps in my logic and who YOU think would have won, but please don’t say something like “I can’t believe you picked XXX.”  I’d hate for someone to accidentally glance in the comments and feel the need to not read further.  Thanks in advance for your cooperation with this request!

This week, we tackle one of the odder Oscar lineups of the last five years. There were two ladies basically considered locks for nominations who somehow missed Globe and SAG nominations. Strangely, too, we saw the acting branch decline to invite two very recent former Best Actress winners back to the Oscar ceremony.  Likewise, the frontrunner of this race fluctuated from one lady to another, solidified by a critical Best Director snub. Indeed, we almost saw Christopher Plummer dethroned for the title of Oldest Oscar Winner! Herewith, we dive into the 2012 Best Actress race.

Here goes nothing!
