2015 Oscar Predictions Revamp – Best Picture, Director Updated!

One of our finest new auteurs gets hit feet wet in the gangster genre.

PaulThomasAndersonTo our loyal Awards Circuit readers, you have seen the Oscar Predictions take different forms over the years.  Some were well-received, some were not.  Launching today, the Oscar Predictions will be taking a brand new form on the site.  Thanks to a much needed revamp and self-design, we now have a mix of everything that you have loved about my take on the Oscar race.

The first two pages to receive the update is Best Picture and Best Director.  Interactive and user-friendly, you can click on all the boxes and receive the commentary on the film or performer that you are eager to hear.

In terms of actual predicting, nothing big has changed.  Bennett Miller‘s Foxcatcher solidified itself as a contender and has remained in the #2 position in Picture and Director behind my betting horse, Inherent Vice by Paul Thomas Anderson.  David Fincher’s Gone Girl and Alejandro Gonzalez Innaritu‘s Birdman remain high on the anticipated lists.  We welcome J.C. Chandor‘s A Most Violent Year in the predicted Best Picture lineup along with Stephen Daldry’s Trash.  Mike Leigh’s Mr. Turner moves up while David Ayer‘s Fury and Rob Marshall‘s Into the Woods moves down, just based gut feelings but that can easily change, especially in June.

In Director, I’m believing in Tim Burton probably more than most but the man is due for some love.  There are big names trying to wiggle their way into the mix including Christopher Nolan, Richard Linklater, and Jon Stewart.

Acting categories should be updated in the next 24 hours or so.

For now, leave your thoughts on the race in comment section, along with your thoughts on the new pages.
