Awards Circuit Power Hour Episode 101: Birdman, Sequel Weekend, and Oscar’s Weird Nominees

POWERHOUR_LOGO_NEW1Welcome to another edition of the Awards Circuit Power Hour, our weekly podcast diving deep into all things film, television, and entertainment.

It’s our Father’s Day episode.  This one goes out to all the Dads of the Awards Circuit, both readers and staff.

We start off by recalling 20 years since a lot of our favorite films hit theaters including The Birdcage, The Lion King, Forrest Gump, and Pulp Fiction.

We had the new trailer premiere for “Dumb & Dumber To” as well as “The Interview.”  We have a lot to say on one of them.

This weekend “How to Train Your Dragon 2″ and “22 Jump Street” impressed many across the country but what did we think of it?

There are reactions to our recently announced ACCA 1997 nominees.  Some of us have explanations and thoughts on what ACCA is all about.  Voting opens midday Monday.

The premiere trailer for “Birdman” hit screens this week and some are just ecstatic to see it.  There is some apprehension from some, which leads to a discussion on the “weird” nominees that Oscar has embraced over the years.

Finally, we talk Oscar categories.  Today, we focus on Best Original Screenplay.
