From Sony Pictures Classics, we get our first look at the trailer for Damien Chazelle‘s Whiplash, the hit film that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January. If you have been following the Awards Circuit and listening to our weekly podcast, J.K. Simmons has come up a lot as a potential threat in the Best Supporting Actor race this season. Starring Miles Teller, the film tells the story of Andrew, an ambitious drummer that gets taken in and trained by an instructor known for unorthodox methods.
The film will screen at the Toronto Film Festival in September. Teller tweeted his recollection of being there a few years ago when co-starred alongside Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart in Rabbit Hole.
This film seems like a strong contender for not only Supporting Actor but possible Original Screenplay and Picture play as well. The film will hit theaters on October 10.
