Once upon a time there was a juicy little rumor out there that Christopher Nolan‘s Interstellar was going to be the Closing Night selection of the New York Film Festival. Obviously, that didn’t come to pass (and considering the slot went to Birdman or the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance, I’m not in the throes of a massive depression), but the film is beginning to get closer and closer to release. Yes, it’s not hitting screens until November 7th, but the publicity machine for the flick is in full swing. A new TV Spot has dropped, and it’s specifically touting that it’s being formatted for IMAX, which I can dig. The spot looks great as usual, so it’s more of the usual here in that regard. Nolan obviously directs (though for those of you don’t know, this was initially conceived as a project for Steven Spielberg to make), with his brother Jonathan Nolan and him on writing duties. The cast is led by Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey (along with just about everyone else in the industry it seems, including Casey Affleck, Wes Bentley, Ellen Burstyn, Michael Caine, Jessica Chastain, Topher Grace, and Anne Hathaway, to name a few), and below you can see the TV spot in all of its glory. Could this be the one to get Nolan into the Best Director lineup? Stay tuned to find out. Interstellar will blast off in November seeking Oscar glory, and sorry for that pun just now.
Here’s the TV Spot:
