First Full Trailer for ‘Ant-Man’ is here

ant-man-movie-image-6-600x330Probably the oddest comic book adaptation to be undertaken by Marvel aside from Guardians of the Galaxy (and we all saw how good that turned out in 2014), Ant-Man is what would be considered a risk for any other studio. Still, it’s not exactly a highly known commodity, so tied in with the behind the scenes machinations that led to filmmaker Edgar Wright departing the project, a strong Trailer would be just what the doctor ordered. Did that happen? Well, kind of. Marvel dropped the first Trailer last night, and while it’s solid enough, I have to say it doesn’t blow me away. I still fully expect to like the film, but it’s got a lowered excitement level, that’s for sure. Paul Rudd stars as the superhero/alter ego Scott Lang, while the supporting cast includes Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena, Corey Stoll, and more. Peyton Reed wound up in the director’s chair for this one after quite the merry go round, so all eyes will be on how his work shapes up. Interesting note about the crediting: Rudd is listed as the co-writer here, along with Adam McKay, who never wound up directing the film despite a flirtation. Wright and his co-writer Joe Cornish have Story By credits, as an FYI. Anyway, take a look below at the Trailer for Ant-Man (which contains ants, yes) and stay tuned for plenty more on this superhero flick. The movie hits theaters on July 17th, so there’s more than six months to go before the release date. Sit tight…
